Some Pics of Violet

These are the same one's I sent out over email/facebook, but though I'd put them here as well.

The waiting is over...welcome to the world Violet Michaela Rolt!

Well, it started Sunday morning and by Monday at 9:40 am, proud parents welcomed a baby girl into the world. Violet Michaela Rolt. Weighing in at 8 lbs. 5 oz. she is a beautiful baby.
Labour was not pleasant, very painful but she was worth every contraction. Mom and baby are doing well, feeding is a bit of an issue but they are determined to conquer it. Photos to follow shortly.

The waiting game.

So here I am on a Saturday night...waiting. Waiting for the first of a long line of pain...waiting for something to start. I don't even know what. Will my water break? Will the contractions start first? It is such a funny thing - being overdue. Andrew and I were very eager, on edge until the due date and now...somehow it seems like it is not going to happen. Funny, we know it will.
So today I finally sat down and created a list of people to email/call when the fun begins. Today, five days after my due date...I guess I really can use the extra time. Well, the only one left with a guess that could come close is Dennis. It's tomorrow! At the time of his guess I was mad he picked six days overdue, but now, here's to hoping!

update

Ok, so apparently Dad had TODAY as his guess for Marnie... coincidence? I think not. Happy Birthday, Dad!
I'm told Adrienne had this date as well, but I don't remember that.
Anyway, this also was not a popular guess at the time. I believe the guess came right after we broke the news to Dad and Barb. In fact, I think the exact words were "Keep your legs closed for 4 days". nice...
I was told that he wished the same about Kaiya! Although, in reverse as she was a little bit early.
Anyway, it looks like today WON'T be the day either, although, I guess there's still time... She went to Guelph today with Carey and Maya to visit Barb at the store and buy clothes, I'm sure.
I think she's just getting tired of waiting around the house, trying to jostle it around a bit and kick it into gear. She's been off work for just over 4 weeks now! In a way, it's been great as things around the house are slowly getting done.
This weekend won't be an exception in that regard - always things to do! If I get the back splash done (ran out of mastic last night), I think I'm going to clean the windows, and possibly do some shed stuff as well as give Echo a good run at the dog park and a bath - He's been a crazy animal lately since we haven't been going lately.

Dave's Guess...

Well, today is our brother in law, Dave's guess for baby to come.... and still nothing, so far. That wasn't a very popular guess at the time, but right now, I'd say that's sounding pretty good to Marn!!

So far, everyone's wrong (that I can remember).
I had the 10th
Candace the 11th
Mom the 15th
Teresa the 14th(?)
I'm sure there were others I'm forgetting, but I don't think anyone had later than today.

We have another midwife appt. and ultra-sound, if needed on Monday.
Drew had plans to go away this weekend for a "boys Golf weekend", but if something doesn't happen soon, I'd say he won't be going to that. Based on Candace's 2 pregnancies, we thought we'd be early for sure (she was 2 and 3 weeks early), but no such luck.

Still waiting....

15th, come and gone (almost)!

Well, here we are on Marn's "due date", and still nothing!
We had a midwife appt. this afternoon, and she said that nothing has progressed much more than from last week. Kind of disappointing, but not much we can do, except wait.
As Teresa reminded me today of Nany's story of all the pregger women walking up a certain hill back in England to bring on labour, we're going to try that right now!

I finished about 2/3's of the back splash this weekend with hopes of finishing tonight, but didn't feel like it. I'm a little worried that I didn't put enough mastic on the wall to hold the tiles because they were wiggling a little bit tonight when I was cleaning up between the grout lines. It wasn't completely dry, though; still tacky, so that could be some of the reason why they moved a little. I hope they stay stuck... cause I don't want to re-do.

I was wrong

It wasn't the 10th! Marn's still trucking around a full belly, and "thinks" she's starting early labour - not active enough to really call it early labour, though. My original prediction was Sept 10-11, then narrowed to the 10th.
If this morning/last night is any indication, it's going to be tomorrow - but then again, who knows!?
The baby is still kicking around and pretty active, at least this morning it was. I was sleeping-in with my hand on the "active spot" and it kicked me so hard it kind of woke me up. We hear babies settle down when the time comes, as though they know they're coming soon to save energy. So it's not going to be today! ;)

I primed the kitchen back splash last night in prep for the tile. I plan on doing it this weekend, but I have a feeling that won't be happening. Also, the shed materials are supposed to be delivered this afternoon! It's supposed to rain all weekend, so if the baby doesn't come, it'll be a nice weekend to be inside and do the back splash.

baby & belly pics

update

I haven't written in a while, as I've been extremely busy at home and work lately. It's a good thing... and a bad thing since I'll be off for a few weeks soon, so work will have to wait.

I completed a rather large upgrade of our computer systems here at work over the long weekend... and boy was it LONG. I worked over 32 hours in the office, and another 5 or more at home over the three days, plus many more hours after work during the week fixing little bugs. By Thursday/Friday last week, everything seemed better and settled down. Not my smoothest upgrade to date, but also not the easiest, either. The extra hours will be taken in lieu of holidays when the baby comes.

Anyway, Marn is still doing well. We're feeling like the baby is going to come any day now (obviously) - I don't think it's really sunk in yet for me, and probably won't until I'm at the hospital!

In the last couple of days, we finally received the la-z boy chair. It's SOOO comfy! and once it's set up, there will be some fights to sit in it for sure. :) We're going to take the love seat from upstairs down to the basement to make room for that, and then the bouncy Ikea chair is going in the baby's room. Marn's mom thinks that there is enough room upstairs to keep it all up there, but we're not sure. Might need to re-arrange a bit to check it out.
The rest of the baby furniture hasn't arrived yet. I have a feeling that the baby will be here before the dresser.

I took some pics of Marn and the baby room last night, so I'll try and get those up soon.

We also bought all the materials for building a shed from Home Hardware -- they have Sheds where they give you the plans and all the materials, and just charge you the cost of the material. So I went with that option instead of trying to wing it. There was no added cost for doing that - it's truly just cost of materials which would be close to what I would be doing anyway, and as an added bonus, you get real plans to follow. It was still more than I thought, though. I guess I'm just cheap.
While we were there, we noticed that they had a big sale on wall tile as well, so we browsed over that and found one that we both really liked - 1x2 subway tiles in 12" sheets. After bringing a sample home, we decided that was it, so we went back and bought that too! Yes, we finally picked a back splash!

So, between now and when the baby comes, do you think I can put up a kitchen back splash and build a shed? Not likely.... But I am taking time off after the baby, so hopefully will have some time then -- my neighbours laugh when I tell them that.
If this weekend is "uneventful", I'll maybe start the back splash which could be done in one weekend. The shed can wait, even though the materials are being delivered on Thursday!

Anyway, Marn had her probably last mid-wife appt yesterday, and was told that she's dilated 1cm already... what??! That can happen before labour? She said the baby is right down there too. Marn says that's why she feels like something's between her legs lately. There have been no other symptoms yet that things are about to begin, although Marn swears that she had 2 labour pains a few nights ago. My date is tomorrow, Sept. 10 (for a girl - most are saying boy), so if yesterday's exam was any indication, I could be right! I'm actually a little shocked that she's gone on this long since her sister went 2 weeks, then 3 weeks early with Braeden and Sadie -- we're already only 6 days away from the 15th.
