Since the day we moved into this new older house, we've had a problem with moths. They were a nuisance more than anything, and we didn't know where they were coming from. We thought they'd just go away eventually. Well, they haven't so we started looking around more closely. I had done some reading on them, and apparently they're really tough to get rid of once they "take hold". Great. They try to get into any grains, flour, or cereal's that they can, and even will eat through plastic bags to get to them. A lot of sites say that whenever you buy this kind of food you should deep freeze it for a few days to kill any that might be there from the store, and then after that it should always be stored in hard plastic (air tight) containers, never plastic, or paper bags.
So anyway, we started seeing disgusting little larvae around and thought, that's it. We need to do something about this and started cleaning out our pantry.
They had completely infested a few boxes of open cereal (that we haven't used in a while, thankfully!) and other things (almonds was the other main thing, which I thought was weird). It was SO gross.... It was supposed to be Marnie's "job" last night, but she couldn't handle it anymore so I finished. Everything that was open and had the potential of getting infested or exposed was thrown out. At least 20-30 lbs of food was tossed. Our cupboards are completely bare right now. No crackers, cookies, grains, flour, rice, cereal.... nothing except canned goods and unopened pasta.
I'm not sure what we do now, but I think the next step is to wash the cupboards again with bleach this time (we washed them when we moved in). I have a feeling that Marnie is looking for someone hosting a Tupperware party. I'm hesitant to buy or put anything back in those cupboards until we have a few weeks of no moths flying around (they seem to only come out at night). The problem, though is there are these grain moths, and then other kinds as well that will eat your clothes instead of food, so we may be in for a surprise when we pull out a nice sweater for the fall. We're SO ANNOYED at this. And disgusted...

The tooth... final chapter
Well, it's done. Finally! (again!)
It went well. Much less painful than last time. I was preparing for the worst, but it wasn't half as painful as last time for what ever reason, and strangely it doesn't really feel like a foreign object in my mouth for once. They did a nice job. The fake tooth itself was pretty cool - I was under the impression that a post would go in first and then cement the fakey to that, but I guess they're all integrated now. The tooth was already attached to the post which had a little hole in the back bottom where they were able to turn the screw to tighten it up into place. it looked exactly like you would picture it; a tooth with a screw coming out of the top. Then just ratchet it into place. It felt weird more than painful this time. The only thing that's bothering me now is it feels very "tight" next to the tooth/teeth on my left. I think probably it's because of a combination of things. My teeth most likely loosened up and spread over the last year having that gap there, the fake tooth is just slightly bigger than before, or that tightness was always there, and I was used to it. Having no tooth there for a year made me forget. whatever the reason, I'm happy with it so far. My Bank Account, however is not....

Reno Update
Haven't updated about the house reno's lately, so here goes;
I haven't really done much, to be honest! lol The fireplace still needs a few finishing tiles around the base, and then sealed/grouted, and the mantel, although is cut to length, is not stained or in it's final place yet. It is sitting in place, though. We like it.
I have sealed the tile at the front, but not grouted yet - not as important because we laid the tile very tight together. I need to finish all of that it as my goal was to have all of that stuff done before the next project which is bearing down on us -- the bathroom!
Marn and her mom are stripping the wall paper in Violet's room as I type (hopefully). Last I talked to her, she said it's not going well. Whatever wallpaper the previous owner used was very stuck on stuff! Very much like the front hall wall paper. What a nightmare to remove.
We're hoping to start the bathroom on the long weekend at the end of the month. Luckily the toilet we already decided on is on sale at Home Depot this week so we'll be picking that up, along with a tub that also happens to be on sale (not much, but a sale nonetheless!).
We have ordered a black with white flecks granite slab to replace the counter top which includes a white under-mount sink. We still need to finalize the tile for the floor and we do have some (free!) tile from a friend that we're planning on using for the shower walls. I have to figure out if there's enough, or if we have to order more (most likely), which might be a problem due to dye colour differences.
Anyway, it's going to be a pretty simple bathroom in a black and white kind of theme. We're REALLY looking forward to getting rid of that bathtub, although part of me is going to miss it, believe it or not! I LIKE the bench seat when I'm tired, or dirty from beach volleyball, etc. Being able to sit down and wash is kind of nice! LOL But it's so tiny and tall it's very hard to wash Violet. We (I) mostly just take her in the shower with me as it's way easier.
We also wanted to get the 3rd bedroom cleaned out and walls patched, and at least set up a little bit so that we have the space available for any guests that might want to spend the night before the baby comes. The goal for that was to paint before Adrienne and the kids got here, but I can't see painting being done before then.
So, those are some lofty reno goals that we want done before October. What are the odds that it all gets done? We'll see...

Wednesday the 21st, I should be all done with this damn denture!
I went in last Wednesday for a casting and met the guy who's making my new crown. Odd that he was there for it because I never met the guy who did my original two. It was kind of gross -- they took the healing cap out which felt SO weird, and a little painful. It felt like something was being unscrewed from my inside my nose, and then when it was out it felt like a huge hole in my gums. Nasty.
Then they put in the post that will be in there permanently so that they can make the mould in order to make the tooth fit around that. That hurt like a sucker! He said what happens is the gums start to fall back in when the healing cap is out and that the post is pinching the gums inside while being screwed back in. There was a moment when I thought I was going to faint because of the (unexpected) pain. It was NOT nice.
After the cast was made, that post came back out and the healing cap back in. More pain.... not looking forward to doing that once again, but at least it should be the last time for it!
So, Wednesday afternoon I finally get to say good buy to the ol' denture. Good riddance. Marn's looking forward to it too because when it's annoying me, it tend to take it out of place and "chatter" it around in my mouth. It's going to feel very weird not having it because you kind of get used to sucking on it which creates a really tight seal on the roof of your mouth. You almost constantly have a small suck on the thing when it's in there.
SO looking forward to being able to eat without having to take the thing out all the time!!
